David's Farewell

Mary and David, missionary to Spokane, Washington.Danny with his nephew Jacob (Mary's son).
Carol, Kayleen, and Alice caught in a thoughtful moment...
Pretty smile, Amanda!

Several of us got to go see David speak in his ward before he left on his mission last week and we had a tasty get-together afterwards at Janet and Peter's. I wanted to announce here (on behalf of the older generation who have proclaimed themselves non-blog-savvy) that a reunion was planned. We will be having a CW Silver (our Grandpa Silver's dad) reunion on July 26th, 2010 at Mimi's old cabin up Mt. Aire in Salt Lake. It will be a great chance to get to know the other cousins and to see Mimi's cabin again, so please come!

2011 Family reunion

As we prepared to leave Colter Bay, we made plans for the 2011 Family Reunion in the Washington, D.C. area in early to mid July. I did some research on accommodations. Near College Park and Greenbelt where my houses are, there are high end to middle class hotels and motels ranging from $70 to $180 per room per night. Our co-op in Greenbelt has a guest house (1 king bed, 1 fold away couch, & kitchen) for $55 per night. There is even a secret National Park in Greenbelt (called...wait for it... Greenbelt National Park) offering 174 campsites at $16 per night. We also have a limited number of friends and relatives willing to host a single or couple in their homes.

There are many venues that could host meetings, meals, and get-togethers. The National Archives annex at College Park, the Marriott Inn and Conference Center at University of Maryland University College, other nearby schools and churches, and the Greenbelt National Park campground to name a few.

For Recreation, there is a lot to see in Washington accessible from the Metro which stops in Greenbelt. There is an amusement/water park ( Six Flags ) about 15 miles away. Also, there is an indoor/outdoor pool at our Co-op in Greenbelt.

Lydia's fun time

At first I was a little disappointed about the family reunion because I really wanted the campsite all to myself so I could go around and look for rocks. I was looking at the rocks down in my favorite rock place when I saw a pretty extraordinary rock. It was a big purple one. I was holding it when all of the sudden a big piece of it fell off. I looked down and picked it up and I went to show it to some of the kids at the family reunion. I made friends this way. I just happened to show it to a boy named Jared. I showed him our tent. Then he showed me theirs. It was cool. I decided to trick the grown ups--I went and got Aunt Mary to show her Jared's tent and I had her walk past a little hole. Jared tickled her feet. Then we went to have dinner. I really had a fun time with Jared. I also liked meeting Andrea who loves horses just like I do.

The next day I went to the lake and played with some rocks. I also went into a deep part where it was to my neck. I wore my Crocs in the water because it was so rocky on the ground. Isn't the lake pretty? The water was freezing cold.

We went to Yellowstone the next day. We went to the geyser place and saw little paint pots and the bubbling things- springs? We saw a bison there. This is a picture of all of us by Old Faithful-- Aunt Sarah, Gramma Grandpa and me. This is just the end. It was much taller and higher before.

Thank you for taking me Gramma and Grandpa Wood! It was so fun to be with you and meet more people in my family.

Welcome to the Silver Family Blog!

Hello everyone! This is Sarah, Marilyn's daughter, and after such a wonderful and successful family reunion, I thought it would be nice to set up a blog for our ever-growing family. I personally had a great time getting to know everyone there, and I want to keep in touch with all of y'all. I think this will make it easier, because anyone who is an 'author' can post whatever they want - pictures, videos, birth or marriage announcements, mission calls, and any other family updates y'all can think of. I think it would be great if everyone who went to the reunion could post their pictures on here so everyone can get a chance to see them and get their own copies. Share your favorite memories from the reunion or any other family gathering in the past as well. By no means am I the most computer-savvy person in this family, so feel free to improve anything you think needs improving. If you have any questions just post them on here or email me at bellzplaya@yahoo.com. Happy blogging!

P.S. Happy Birthday Momma! I love you! And congratulations to David Beverly on his mission call!
